Upper Kirby residents may have a club complex sooner than expected.
CultureMap broke the news last week that the old Settegast Kopf funeral home at 3320 Kirby would be transformed into a collection of Vegas-style clubs.
Now, City Planning Commission member and developer Blake Tartt tells CultureMap that contrary to earlier reports, "there is nothing on hold from the planning commission. There is no variance being sought."
In fact, Tartt says that owners Jeff Barati and Andy Aweida — current proprietors of Nox, Taps and Kobain and former owners of Whiskey Creek and Escobar — already have their building permits.
Barati and Aweida own both the former Settegast Kopf funeral home and the out-of-use bank building next door, although the bank building has a TABC application under a different name. Tartt says the tenants have told him all their permits have been approved.
