Macy's Same-Day Delivery
Why wait? Macy's launches same-day delivery service in Houston area
The magic of Macy's just got, well, more magical, with the launch of same-day delivery to your home or business. All of the retailer's eight Houston locations are participating in the pilot program for in-stock online purchases, joining other Macy's stores in eight major markets nationwide.
Customers shopping on Macys.com select the “same-day delivery” option at checkout to schedule their desired two-hour delivery window for the same or next day. To ensure same-day delivery, orders must be placed by 1 p.m. local time, Monday through Saturday, or by 11 a.m. on Sunday.
Same-day delivery is a flat $5 for all online purchases that meet Macy’s minimum order requirement of $99. Otherwise, standard shipping is $14.99 plus $5 for same-day delivery.
Customers can see a picture of their driver and estimated time of arrival, as well as track their deliveries from the moment of pick up.
The service is supported by Deliv, a crowdsourced same-day delivery business. Deliv drivers pick up orders from local stores and take them to their different destinations.
In comparison, monster-retailer Amazon's same-day service, formally known as "Local Express Delivery," costs $5.99 per shipment for Amazon Prime members, who also must pay a $99 annual fee. Non-Prime members pay $9.98 for the first item and 99 cents for each additional item.
Macy's continues to offer its "buy online, pick up in-store" offering initiated last fall. Items on macys.com marked "New! pick up in-store" qualify for the program at no additional cost.
"Our goal remains to help our customers shop whenever, wherever and however they prefer, and to use the entire inventory of the company to satisfy demand," Terry Lundgren, Macy's chairman and CEO, said in a statement.
