    WHERE TO SHOP

Where to shop now: 12 Houston stores debuting fresh summer essentials

    Gabi De la Rosa
    Apr 2, 2024 | 10:30 am

Spring is here, and summer is on its heels, making it time to brighten up your warm-weather wardrobe. Many Houston-based brands offer playful prints and bold colors, making it easy to find stylish dresses, sophisticated jewelry, and must-have accessories.

To inspire effortless shopping options this month, we've curated 12 must-visit spots. So, gear up to explore the latest offerings available at several of Houston's best boutiques.

    AK Collective
Alexandra Killion, Houston interior designer and founder of Le Petite Maison Gala, will launch her first furniture collection on April 5. AK Collective is a thoughtful, handcrafted furniture line that combines historical elements with present-day aesthetics. The debut collection includes fourteen pieces and will be available at Alexandra Killion's showroom and online.

    Buckle Bunny Hat Bar
Buckle Bunny Hat Bar recently opened in M-K-T Heights. This full-service hat customization boutique offers a large selection of felt and straw hats in colors and sizes for both men and women. Guests can customize their hats with different bands and accessories and then watch as one of the designers customizes their one-of-a-kind piece. In addition to the brand's popular hat bar, Buckle Bunny also carries a wide variety of Western-inspired clothing for women.

    Gorjana
Gorjana's Rice Village and Heights Mercantile locations debuted two new collections inspired by brand ambassador and top-ranked tennis star Jessica Pegula: the Paw Collection and the Diamond Ace Collection. From April 1 to December 31, 50 percent of the proceeds from the Paw Collection will directly benefit A Lending Paw, a national nonprofit founded by Pegula that connects people in need with rescued and trained service animals. The Collection includes the Diamond Paw Necklace, the Double Paw Necklace, and the Single Paw Heart Bracelet.

    Elizabeth Anthony
While most of us are shopping for spring and summer, Uptown clothing boutique Elizabeth Anthony is preparing for fall with several trunk shows. Shoppers will find Fabiana Filippi, Maison Common, Lourdes Chavez, and Barbara Lohmann's fall 2024 offerings, while several others, including Goshwara Fine Jewelry, Chris Davies Fine Jewelry, Emily P. Wheeler Fine Jewelry, and Maria Oliver Designer Handbag Collection will be on hand. Elizabeth Anthony is also debuting Sylva & Cie Fine Jewelry in-store. More detailed information is available here.

    Hunter Bell x Marysia
Hunter Bell just dropped her first swimwear collab with Marysia. Exclusively available online, fans of the brands can experience the playful patterns Houston-based Hunter Bell is known for on Marysia's elevated swimwear.

    Jimmy Choo
The coveted Jimmy Choo Beach Collection is now available in the brand's Galleria boutique. Inspired by the French Riviera, the capsule collection offers swimwear, apparel, accessories, shoes, and handbags. Made with summer colors, shoppers will find pinks, whites, creams, and textures, including straw and cork.

    Lucchese Bootmaker x Parker McCollum
Lucchese Bootmaker released a new collection of boots, hats, apparel, and accessories with Houston area country singer-songwriter Parker McCollum. The line includes four boots designed by McCollum, four belts, two shirts, and three hats. The Lucchese x Parker McCollum collection is available in-store and online.

    Maygel Coronel
Luxury resort wear brand Maygel Coronel, a favorite of celebrities including Dua Lipa and Hailey Bieber, is opening its first retail space in the United States in River Oaks District. Maygel Coronel is known for its rich colors and lively patterns. Shoppers can stock up on spring and summer essentials through mid-June.

    MCM
Just in time for summer, luxury brand MCM has released several new styles and colors, including the new Diamond Bag. Available at its Galleria boutique, the bag is crafted from supple Spanish calf leather and comes in five colors. The cutout nods to the contours of Bavarian diamonds, and the shoulder strap is adjustable, allowing for crossbody wear and versatile practicality.

    Parker Boot Co.
Houston-based boot brand Parker Boot Co. is launching its made-to-order program on April 10. Customers can now fully customize their boots with the brand's owner, Zephen Parker, who apprenticed under some of the state's best boot makers.

    Pippa & Pearl
Houston-based boutique Pippa & Pearl recently debuted its second location in M-K-T Heights. Known for its feminine aesthetic and penchant for florals, the boutique is a must-shop for spring and summer outfits.

    Shop with Heart Card
It's the ten days savvy shoppers have been waiting for. From April 19 to April 28, shoppers with the Shop with Heart card will receive 20 percent off full-priced merchandise from several stores, including Tootsies, Bering's, Love Shack Fancy, Veronica Beard, David Peck, and more. Priced at $75, the Shop with Heart Card benefits the American Heart Association and can be found on their website.

    SHOPPING BONANZA

What to know about the return of Houston's Nutcracker Market for 2025

It’s that time of year again when Houston's most dedicated shoppers trade in their pumpkin spice for peppermint lattes and make their annual pilgrimage to NRG Center, in matching sweatshirts, of course, for the Houston Ballet Nutcracker Market.

Marking the unofficial start of the holiday season, this year’s shopping festivities also celebrate the Houston Ballet Academy’s 70th anniversary. Since 1981, the Nutcracker Market has raised over $97.6 million for the Houston Ballet, with 11 percent of merchandise sales and all ticket proceeds supporting ballet programming and training. In 2024, over 99,000 shoppers helped raise $6.3 million for the Houston Ballet, which trains more than 1,000 students annually and awards over $1 million in scholarships.

    What to Expect

More than 280 merchants will take over NRG Center for five days, offering everything from holiday décor and jewelry to clothing, accessories, and enough gourmet treats and delicious samples to keep tote bags full and shoppers happy.

    New Vendors

Shoppers will flock to favorites like Royal Standard, Donne Di Domani, Texas Tamale Company, Paul Michael Company, and Round Top Collection. But 40 new vendors are joining the fun this year. A few newcomers worth checking out between mimosas include:

    • Mini Mahjer: Beginner-friendly mahjong sets and travel kits.
    • Hat Chick: A curated collection of hats and authentic adornments.
    • True Honey Teas: Gourmet blends sweetened with honey granules.
    • Let Me Snack: Popped waterlily seed snacks in assorted flavors.
    • Mended: Hand block-printed tea towels and table linens.
    • Vintage Boho Bags: Customized and upcycled boho-style bags.
    • Chocolate Moonshine Company: Gourmet fudge and artisan truffles that make gift-giving easy.
    • Seasoned Straws: Coated, sustainable, flavored straws.
    • Saturday Silks: 100% silk collegiate scarves and accessories.

    Tips for Tackling the Market

Comfort is key. The Nutcracker Market fills up the NRG Center, so wear shoes made for walking. High heels, sparkles, and sequins may look festive, but comfy clothes are the way to go, especially when shopping for hours and juggling bags all day.

Crowds are highest in the morning, so plan for afternoon or evening shopping if you want a little more elbow room. Strollers, wagons, and rolling bags aren’t allowed, but wheelchairs, walkers, and service animals are welcome. For those who overdo it on the shopping (and who doesn't, this time of year), take advantage of package check or the optional curbside pickup for a seamless, stress-free exit.

    Tickets

General admission is $20 for a one-day pass, available at Ticketmaster.com or H-E-B Business Centers. Early Bird Admission is $60 for those who want a 90 minute head start on Thursday and Friday.
