    FEMININE FLORALS

2 haute Houston fashion designers debut new on-trend lines blooming with fab florals for spring

    Gabi De la Rosa
    Apr 25, 2023 | 11:25 am

For Houston's fashion-conscious ladies, springtime means swapping out heavier winter fabrics for breezier options and retiring those cozy hoodies. It's always exciting to embrace dresses, skirts, and a brighter, more playful wardrobe.

This season's collections evoke a softer mood with delicate fabrics and a nod to chic minimalism, and two Houston designers boast new lines of the trend.

Christy Lynn Lee and Lyndsey Zorich recently debuted stunning new collections for those looking to add to their spring or summer closets. These Houston-based designers have crafted smartly tailored garments featuring antique-inspired patterns and comfortable yet gorgeous pieces that elevate any spring and summer fashion game.

Read on to find out how to shop these must-have collections.

    Christy Lynn Collection, Wild Dusk

Christy Lynn Lee unveiled her highly anticipated Spring/Summer 2023 collection, Wild Dusk with an exclusive runway show at River Oaks District restaurant, Bari Ristorante. Christy Lynn is known for her romantic designs and use of carefully curated fabrics, including hand-painted silks, hand-drawn designs, and carefully restored floral prints.

Her latest collection is all about embracing the West's natural elegance and rugged authenticity with an Asian-inspired twist. Lee masterfully infused traditional Western silhouettes with vibrant florals, creating feminine wardrobe staples perfect for summer celebrations and travel.

This collection invites wearers to appreciate the beauty of nature with its custom prints inspired by the stunning colors of sunrises and sunsets. Each piece is crafted using only the finest lightweight fabrics, essential for warm Houston weather.

Speaking about her inspiration for the collection, Lee tells CultureMap, "This collection is a sartorial ode to the grandeur of the big Texas sky and beauty of nature in the West. By infusing iconic Western silhouettes with a blend of Asian-inspired florals and surprising hues, we've brought a modern and unique twist to these classic looks."

While Wild Dusk is available on line and in stores, those looking for even more of Lee's beautiful designs are in luck – the designer is opening a new atelier in Memorial this summer.

    Lyndsey Zorich, Mason's Daughter

Mason's Daughter will be available exclusively at The Avenue, a highly curated lifestyle destination featuring apparel, gifts, accessories, and homewares from emerging and established brands. Zorich, the creative mastermind behind the exquisite lifestyle brand, is passionate about showcasing global artisans, up-and-coming designers, and one-of-a-kind vintage treasures.

The spring collection from Mason's Daughter boasts a selection of feminine pieces that are versatile and easy to mix and match. The collection features delightful details such as ruffles, scalloped edges, and flowing maxi skirts. In addition to apparel, Zorich is also working on a line of linens, tabletop pieces, and unique gifts, all of which will be making their debut later this year.

While Mason's Daughter collection is available online, Houston shoppers can visit the Westheimer location of The Avenue in person to experience Zorich's entire retail collection firsthand.

With a mix of bright colors and patterns, Consuela bags have become a must-have accessory for women who love a bold pop of color. Founded by Conni Reed, who grew up just outside of Houston in Waller, Consuela burst onto the scene in 2005 and has been a go-to handbag for two decades.

Available in boutiques, department stores, and flagship locations in Austin and Smithville, Consuela is now bringing its signature style to the Houston area with its newest store in LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch.

"This location holds a special place in my heart as I grew up just outside of Houston," said Reed. "From day one, the Greater Houston market was incredibly supportive of Consuela. Expansion into Katy further strengthens those connections."

Just like its signature bags, shoppers can expect a one-of-a-kind shopping experience in the new boutique. Disco balls, shimmering mirrors, handcrafted materials, and artisan-made designs fill the space, creating a vibrant shopping experience. According to Reed, the store embodies the "Art of the Unmatched" design principle her brand is based on.

"Layering industrial elements with handcrafted details, vintage finds, and artistic finishes have created a one-of-kind space," said Reed. "Every material, pattern, and finish reflects Consuela's celebratory spirit. From the exterior to the interior, everything was crafted to tell the story of Consuela and our commitment to working with artisans, uplifting resilient communities, and celebrating the spirit of Mexico through design," said Reed.

Although there won't be any Houston-exclusive pieces, shoppers can get their hands on Consuela's newest Spring 2025 collection. The latest lineup features woven textures and handcrafted details, with vibrant pinks, yellows, and greens accented by bronze embroidery. Designs include crystal-studded sunsets, fruit motifs, and floral disco ball prints, perfect for spring and summer looks.

"Each of these pieces is a functional piece of art," said Reed. "Each of our bags is designed with joy in mind, rooted in the idea to overcome, to choose to live boldly, authentically, and to have fun."
