Burberry expands Houston location — and adds a custom tailoring department
Houston has witnessed a luxury boom in recent months, with a handful of new high-end retailers moving in and existing ones sprucing up their Galleria storefronts. The most recent to renovate is Burberry, which just debuted a glossy new space that features an additional 3,000 square feet and a Westheimer-facing façade.
With all of that new room, the store now features Christopher Bailey's runway Burberry Prorsum collection as well as expanded presentations of the brand's best-selling accessories. But an exciting new feature also exists for male fans of the iconic British fashion house: Custom suiting.
Burberry Tailoring, a service available in approximately 70 of the company's global retail outlets, allows customers to build on the iconic tailoring of the house while also having an opportunity for extensive customization.

With the help of the in-store tailoring expert, customers are measured and guided through selecting the ideal suit for their body type and personal style — slim, modern or classic.
From there, customers can pick from over 40 different exclusive fabrics, all of which are designed in London and produced in English and Italian mills. Once the suit is selected, the tailoring expert places an order on their iPad and the suit is delivered to the store within 48 hours. The tailor then makes any necessary adjustments to ensure the perfect fit, and the final product is hand-finished on-site and delivered to the customer.
Each suit is designed at the Burberry headquarters in London and hand-tailored in Italy by more than 100 expert tailors.
"Burberry Tailoring is founded on a rich history of fabric innovation, inspired by the timeless style of the iconic Burberry trench coat," chief creative officer Christopher Bailey said in a press release. "The modern sartorial design and traditional hand-finished details create an effortless and understated silhouette with a distinct and British attitude."
Local fans of this distinct Burberry aesthetic include Houston Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson, who donned one of the bespoke suits at an event the company hosted with GQ to celebrate the opening of its newly-revamped Galleria store. Other celebrity fans include Andrew Garfield, David Beckham and Damian Lewis.
According to Burberry, Houston is a flagship market for the brand, and the introduction of the bespoke tailoring service to the store is an integral part of the brand's mission to engage the local customer.
