Passion for Fashion kickoff party shines with announcement of 2013 style icon
At the recent kickoff party for the Passion for Fashion luncheon, it was hard to tell which was more dazzling: Many of Houston's best dressed who turned out in their latest fall/winter designer wear or the shiny baubles on display at Deville Fine Jewelry, where the party was held.
Liz Glanville, who is chairing the luncheon with Paula Fyhr, opened her store for the kick-off event and donated 10 percent of the evening's sales to the fashion and interior design programs at Houston Community College.
Glanville also announced that the Passion for Fashion luncheon on Feb. 28 at the Wortham Theater Center will honor the always stylish Sheridan Williams as the 2013 Design Society Fashion Icon. Saks Fifth Avenue senior vice president of creative and marketing Terron Schaefer will be the featured guest.
Schaefer, who is a panelist on the hit TV series Fashion Star, will be interviewed by yours truly. He will arrive in Houston directly from Milan and will give a first-hand report on the fall 2013 collections, along with his pick of the best trends for spring.
On hand to celebrate the announcement were Saks general manager Terry Zmyslo, Passion for Fashion honorary chairs Rosemarie Johnson and Melissa Mithoff, co-chair Mary Ann McKeithan and Houston Community College chancellor Mary Spangler. Proceeds from the luncheon will also benefit the HCC fashion and interior design programs.
Also lending support were HCC Central campus president Bill Harmon, Kay King, founder of the HCC fashion program, and Suzette Brimmer, chair of HCC Lifestyle Arts & Design Careers. Brimmer sported a new page-boy hairdo popularized by Anna Wintour.
Seen in the crowd: Diane Lokey Farb, Elizabeth Petersen, Leisa Holland-Nelson, Nancy Littlejohn, Ash Shah, Christie Sullivan, Jared Lang, Neda Ladjevardian, Faith Majors and Bill King.
