Houston style stars get a little bubbly over young designer's dramatic runway show
Rising fashion designer Jonathan Blake assembled a front row of Houston style stars at his recent spring/summer 2015 show that would make more established designers envious.
Lynn Wyatt, Becca Cason Thrash, Debbie Festari and Nancy Golden were among the select group of fashion influencers lining the runway at La Colombe D’Or for the Jonathan Blake fashion show. The hotel's French architecture and Blake's attention to luxurious details (the swag bags contained a bottle of Veuve Clicquot, among other things) set the stage for a show that started off with a sweeping bustier gown in rich red hues.
The collection of 36 looks ranged from detailed sophisticated separates to short flouncy party dresses for the younger set.
The collection of 36 looks ranged from detailed sophisticated separates to short flouncy party dresses for the younger set. Zippers were spotted throughout the collection and attached capes were draped just so on short sheath dresses and long gowns. The designer also incorporated python detailing into many of the pieces.
An intense green and blue stingray print was a crowd favorite and Blake used the fabric for sheer button down shirts, floor-length silk skirt and a cocktail dresses. Models were fresh-faced for spring, sporting high sleek pony tails, pinky cheeks and soft red lips.
Deborah Duncan emceed the show, entertaining the glam group before and after the show with a little joking and a little singing. She also did a little cajoling after the show, asking for music with a beat as she and a reluctant Blake took a turn down the runway.
Blake's fall collection is available for purchase now and he is taking orders for spring 2015. With an entire spring worth of galas ahead, it will be interesting to see which of his leading ladies choose looks from the runway.
