Upscale Galleria-area spa blossoms with $2.5 million makeover
In Italian, fiori means flowers. And flowers are symbols of beauty and romance the world over. So, it’s fitting that the Galleria-area spa Fiori has upped its luxury quotient to match the beauty of its name, with the completion of a $2.5 million renovation.
The redesign adds 3,000 square feet to the spa and upgrades include seven new massage rooms, a second outdoor swimming pool, new rooftop sundeck, remodeled garden area, expanded state-of-the-art ladies’ locker room, additional waiting area, and enhanced interiors.
To be sure, Fiori has been an address synonymous with glamour, pampering, and lush experiences since it opened in 2005. Owner Roy Horlock conceived the space on Potomac Drive as a haven for those seeking a little luxury escape from Houston’s hustle and grind.
“Originally, I opened Fiori to fill a void in the market,” he says. “One of the most affluent areas in the country didn’t have a high-end spa. The concept was to build a five-star, resort-type spa without the resort. This expansion adds to that in spades. Everything is over the top, especially for a standalone spa. With three swimming pools, full men’s and ladies’ facilities with outdoor showers and steam rooms, and the addition of Ivy and a salon, Fiori stands out as something special and different in the U.S. spa industry.”
Ivy is the new Ivy Bar & Bistro, an 1,800-square-foot upscale lounge, with a menu packed with the kind of exquisite fare expected from a plush experience like Fiori. Tate Drennen, of Sterling House and Warehouse Live fame, is heading the operation, according a release. Here, spa-goers and the general public will find craft cocktails, flavorful Italian plates and a stylish, intimate European ambiance that are inspired by restaurants and bars in France, Italy, New York and Miami. There’s even a rooftop dining space overlooking Fiori’s spa garden. Attitudes Paris Coiffure, a full-service hair salon, also borrows from European chic, as its name implies.
While the Fiori overhaul is both extensive and impressive, the spa’s core commitment to find service remains the same: to offer an unparalleled, full-service European spa experience, including facials and skincare services, massages, body treatments, nail services and more. It now boasts 13 treatment rooms, including three couples suites and 10 individual treatment rooms. There are also more than five separate event space options, perfect for private parties, bachelorette parties, work lunches or even weddings.
Fiori has, for the last dozen years, luxury seekers in Tanglewood, Memorial, and Briargrove have known that Fiori was a gem. With these expansions, odds are other Houstonians are going to be in on the secret.
