As daily temperatures drop a few degrees, we can finally justify spending time compiling our fall fashion wish lists. While there’s no point stocking up on peacoats and scarves just yet (let’s be realistic, it won’t actually be cold for months), there are a few things we’ve had our eyes on.
From the equestrian handbag to the more laptop-friendly tote, these durable pieces from NYC favorite Brooklyn Industries can fit a surprising amount of stuff into a small package, plus they’re comfortable to carry around without looking cheesy. Added bonus: they’re waterproof, although I’d bet we won’t be getting much hard weather this winter.
I’ve finally found my ideal boot, and it’s the Kristi by junior’s line Kelsi Dagger. This doesn’t sound like a big deal, but it is, because this has been a years-long search: a tan, wedge-heeled boot that looks as good with jeans as it does with dresses. I have a really good feeling about this one (too bad it’s on backorder til December, though I’m sure it’ll be worth the wait).
A 55-item collection of clothing and accessories with a decidedly throwback feel, Topshop’s featured Fall look is heavy on creamy colors, tan leather, low hems and pleats — imagine Mad Men meets Molly Ringwald. Pair sweet dresses and sweaters with edgier accessories, and definitely wear this pink faux fur coat with everything.
Investing tons of money on a pair of hand-dyed silk tights seems like a great idea. until you snag them on something the first time you dare wear them out (or maybe it’s just me). Since it’s not really jeans-and-sweater weather for another month or so, pair summer dresses with fun tights — Forever21’s are cheap and come in tons of fun lacy and floral patterns.
This perfume is pretty pricey, but the combination of lavender and pumpkin is the perfect fall mix: sweet and nostalgic, but with prim lavender to avoid smelling like a saccharine body spray. With hints of jasmine, freesia, nutmeg, cinnamon and amber, it’s warm, with enough floral notes to keep it from being too heavy.
