Delicate makeover of luxury fashion boutique sparkles with addition of fine jewelry
At the end of the summer, a sizable number of Houston's social set come back to town looking "remarkably refreshed." A little nip here and tuck there presents a youthful face as the fall season gets ready to whip into high gear.
The same thing could be said of Elizabeth Anthony, the venerable Uptown Park boutique formerly known as Elizabeth Anthony Esther Wolf. Over the summer, the store has undergone a delicate makeover, with a 2,000-square foot addition that features more room for a host of top fashion designers, including Alberta Ferretti, Roland Mouret and Zac Posen, additional fitting rooms and a new fine jewelry section — along with a shortened store name and new logo.
"It started as a small project, but I don't know how to do anything small," Roberts said.
"It started as a small project, but I don't know how to do anything small," owner Julie Roberts said with a laugh during a recent tour of the new store.
Custom-designed cases by Florida woodwork consultant Gary Fusco showcase the exclusive collections of several premier jewelry designers, including Kara Ross, Chris Davies, Andrea Foreman, Maiyet and Jordan Alexander, a collection from Georgia designer Theresa Harper Bruno who has fashioned a new take on the pearl necklace and counts Michelle Obama and Katie Couric among her clients.
"It's for the lady who wants to wear pearls but look modern," Roberts said.
Roberts expects the store redo to be totally completed by Sept. 4, just in time to host jewelry designer Ross, who will also showcase her handbag collection at a reception from 6 - 8 p.m. The store will celebrate its new look on Oct. 1 with a big party featuring a runway show by Escada.
