One reason to visit Dallas this fall: Donatella Versace plans H&M line (withvideo)
H&M has come up with a real fashion coup: Donatella Versace is creating a collection for the fast fashion chain. The collection, which will include lines for women and men as well as selected pieces for the home, will debut on Nov. 19 at 300 of the chain's stores around the world.
Sadly, the only H&M outlet in Texas at that time will be in Dallas, where a store opening at NorthPark Center is planned for October.
Rumors persist that H&M is scouting out Houston locations, but no deal has been signed.

Versace plans to base the H&M collection on the Miami print made famous by her brother, Gianni Versace. The 40-piece womenswear collection will include dresses in studded leather, silk and colorful prints, and accessories, including high heels and costume jewelry. The 20-piece men’s collection will emphasize sharp tailoring, with a tuxedo for sale, as well as belts and jewelry. For the first time in a designer collaboration at H&M, the collection will include pieces for the home, including pillows and bedspreads.
No prices were released.
Versace is also designing a pre-spring collection for H&M which will available online Jan. 19, 2012.
Those Versace fans interested in the real thing, at a much higher price, can take heart. A full-service Versace boutique remains in The Galleria.
I interviewed Donatella when she opened a revamped Versace flagship boutique on Fifth Avenue in New York a few years ago and didn't understand a word she said because her English is so heavily accented. Here she describes the H&M collection. See if you can decipher what she has to say:
