Francisco Costa, who succeeded Calvin Klein as the iconic brand's women's creative director in 2003 and remains a fashion favorite with sleek minimalist collections, has brought that same sensibility to a limited edition collection for Macy's.
But while a Calvin Klein Collection dress can cost several thousand dollars, retail prices for the Macy's collection range from $135 to $180.
Influenced by modern Brazilian architecture, Costa created crepe and jersey dresses with his signature clean lines and shapes in the brand's signature neutral shades.
Costa, a native of Brazil, designed the collection as part of Macy's celebration of the beauty and culture of the South American country. The retailer is also offering a host of Brazilian-inspired products, including handbags, shoes, fashion jewelry and scarves by Carlos Falchi; footwear, handbags, fashion jewelry and apparel by Rachel Roy and Seu Jorge; Neon; and swimsuits from Brazilian labels Sauipe, Despi and ANK.
But it's the “Francisco Costa for Calvin Klein” capsule collection that bargain-hunting fashionistas will gravitate towards. Influenced by modern Brazilian architecture, Costa created crepe and jersey dresses with his signature clean lines and shapes in the brand's signature neutral shades.
The collection maintains the sensibility of the Costa/Klein spirit at a fraction of designer prices. "If it's a good design, it can be translated in all different levels," Costa told The New York Times.
