While Michelle Obama and Nancy Reagan are lauded as style icons, Barbara Bush has rarely been praised for her fashion sense. At the recent Salvation Army "Reflections of Style" luncheon, the former first lady even made fun of her lack of fashion smarts.
But there's one person who thinks that the former first lady is a fashion role model: her stylish granddaughter Lauren Bush.
In the May issue of Harper's Bazaar, Lauren Bush says she gets her own sense of style from her grandmother. "She has always paid attention to fashion. She is a very assertive grandma; she'll let you know if she likes what you're wearing or not."
Not only that, grandma Barbara is so hip that she sends her messages to Lauren from an iPad.
For the longest time, Lauren Bush has evaded questions on what name she will take on after she marries David Lauren, son of designer Ralph Lauren. "Out of all the people I could've met and fallen in love with, it's just ironic that David would end up with someone named Lauren," she says.
But in the interview, she said, "I think it will be Lauren Bush-Lauren. That's not final, but I think it's nice to have the same name as your husband. I am sort of old-fashioned in that way."
No date has been set, but she says the wedding will be a intimate affair. And there's no doubt on who will design the gown: Her future father-in-law, naturally.
