Spring Forward Beauty, Part I: Clamoring over anti-aging creme is a familyaffair
Bring on the sunshine! Spring is here and it's time to turn a few new beauty tricks. Why not spring forward with my latest treasure trove of recent beauty discoveries?
Today we'll dish on a revolutionary youth preserving skin solution based upon the fascinating and rare "resurrection flower."
Superhero in a Jar
I recently did a double take at a Kiehl's advertisement for their latest skincare launch: "Recharge Cells & Jolt Back Youth." Is it a bird, a plane, or Kiehl's new anti-aging cream? Yes, this is a superhero of sorts. It's Rosa Arctica, a revitalizing rehydrating cream formulated with a rare regeneration flower.
I know, I know . . . yet another skin cream, really? Patience, please. This is exactly what our skin craves after winter, so read on, please.
Introducing the "resurrection flower," or Rosa Arctica, a remarkable plant that rocks one incredible physiological and structural strategy: This rare species minimizes its own water loss. Should the plant dry out completely, it uses its rock star survival mechanism to endure up to 31 months of wickedly cold and arid weather.
When growing conditions improve, the superhero Rosa Arctica resumes normal growth within hours, and with only a few drops of moisture, is restored within one to two days. Talk about survival of the fittest!
Wow! Just imagine what this new skincare elixir, chock full of Rosa Arctica extract combined with Vitamin E, cocoa and shea butters & essential fatty acids, would do for winter parched or air travel-worn skin cells? Kiehl's states that utilizing the power of this unique "resurrection flower " will jolt skin cells vitality and trigger physiological reactions resulting in visibly healthier, regenerated and more youthful skin.
Kiehl's maintains thatRosa Arctica minimizes the skin's appearance of fine lines, improves its overall texture and increases skin's firmness and elasticity. Oh, yeah, and Kiehl's manages to bring us this major anti-aging solution for $60 for 1.7 oz. vs. the usual suspects' products ranging from $100-$200+. Yes, please, I'll have a rejuvenated complexion for my spring fling! Thanks, Kiehl's.
Verdict? Love, love, lovin' IT! Rosa Arctica's elegant and cushiony consistency glides effortlessly over the skin. How cool that this creme instantly penetrates, with none of this "what's that shiny stuff on your face" residue.
I would take the recommended "dime size" dollop, rub it a few times between my palms, and gently press this luxurious antidote over my face, neck and upper decolletage. From the very first application, I could practically hear my skin sighing "aaahhh" in hydrated relief; my treated epidermis looked and felt refreshed, firm and protected.
No doubt I knew Rosa Arctica was a certified hit when my husband constantly "borrowed" my deluxe sample jar, and every day, my superhero cream would mysteriously migrate to a different clandestine spot in our bathroom. Spooky.
After a few marital discussions, we agreed to keep the Rosa Arctica in visible neutral cosmetic territory, only to have this coveted product disappear yet again. This time the culprit was my teenage daughter, who blatantly took our Kiehl's stash to remedy her dry, winter-stricken cheeks.
Rosa Arctica is a cross gender and multi-generational grand slam at our home; time to purchase our own individual jars, and stop the family feud.
Fortunately Rosa Arctica is available at Kiehl's Highland Village, 4076 Westheimer, (713) 621-4330, and Neiman Marcus Houston Galleria, (713) 621-7100.
In my next Spring Forward Beauty installment, I'll reveal a superb line of organic cosmetics, inspired by a centuries old Moroccan beauty treatment, derived from the world's richest source of Vitamin E. Let's celebrate a super fresh Springtime state of mind. Enjoy!
