In the words of Mimi Swartz, Mickey Rosmarin is "known as Houston's shrewdest, hippest retailer."
Flanked by a spectacular Pucci gown, Rosmarin, the proprietor of Houston legend Tootsies, appears in "The Horse's Mouth" column in the April 2011 issue of Texas Monthly. With a focus on his eye for style (Rosmarin has a habit of bringing cherished brands back from the near-dead) and a knack for inspiring loyalty, Rosmarin's latest major achievement was the opening of the new Tootsies at West Ave in February.
What does Houston's fashion guru have to say about shopping and style to Texas Monthly? We picked out the highlights.
On aging gracefully:
"There's sexy and there's alluring. I think after you reach the age of fifty, you'd rather look alluring than sexy."
On labels:
"Expensive clothes usually look expensive. 'You get what you pay for' is as true for luxury apparel as it is for any other product."
On customer service:
"The customer is always right, hypothetically. At least they have the privilege of always being right."
