Top Houston fashion designers bring a touch of glamour to The Woodlands
With so much retail activity in The Woodlands right now, Theresa Roemer and a group of residents in the far north Houston suburb decided it was time for some fashion pizzazz. They organized Fashion Woodlands, which will showcase five top Houston designers tonight (March 12).
In this week's KHOU CultureMap Moment, Roemer talks about the first-ever event, where she will showcase her Theresa Roemer True and Real clothing line at a big tent next to Crave Luxury Auto. "They're going to see exotic cars and amazing fashion. It's going to be a show like The Woodlands has never seen before," she said.
Other designers include Chloe Dao, who whipped up an an entire summer collection to show at the event in one week, recalling her Project Runway days. "I'm really excited. I did a lot of prints. I did a lot of sexy dresses, but I did really easy wearable pieces," she said.
"The collection we're showing really sexy, a little bit of a nod to the '70s, sort of disco glam," said David Peck, who is a featured designer at the show, which will benefit the Greater Woodlands Public Art Foundation.
Young designers Amir Taghi and Jonathan Blake will also showcase their collections.
The event was rescheduled from last September after the sudden death of Woodlands arts patron and community supporter Tony Motto.
