Fashion Week Fun
Houston's handbag queen is a hit at NY fashion week — and hot fashion bloggers can't get enough of the fun
NEW YORK — Since opening her Madison Avenue boutique last year, Elaine Turner has had a lot of reasons to celebrate. The Houston accessories queen has targeted Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week for the opportunity to tout the brand to New Yorkers and target the fashion crowd coming in from Texas and other parts of the country.
This time around, Turner decided to double her fun.
The night before fashion week began, she co-hosted a cocktail party to showcase her spring collection and preview the Lyssé line of body slimming apparel and workout wear. Lyssé president Juliana Prather was also on hand to greet shoppers.
The next night, Turner welcomed fashion writers and New York socialites to a cocktail party, with 20 percent of the evening's sales donated to Tusk USA, a non-profit organization that funds conservation, community development and environmental education programs across Africa. On hand were Tusk board members Wendy Breck and Griff Fairbairn, as well as executive director Ellen O'Connell, who told the crowd that Prince William of Great Britain serves as patron of the international organization.
There were also a slew of stylish Houston fashion bloggers taking part in fashion week activities, including Lauren Mills (Sunday Beach), Brittany Boone (BNB Styling), Alex Carreno (Adored by Alex) and Kate Blue (For The Love of Fancy).
