New Balance 247 Debut
Rising hip-hop star launches luxe lifestyle sneaker with Houston performance
New Balance debuted its new 247 line of "lifestyle shoes for the active urbanite" with a worldwide launch last weekend and Houston was one of several cities around the world to take part in the special celebration.
Houston-born rapper/hip-hop artist Ingrid gave an intimate pop-up concert at the Shoe Palace in The Galleria, where the premium leather sneaker, which comes in three colors (black, brown and tan), was unveiled. Events also took place internationally in London, Paris Shanghai, Tokyo, and Seoul, and in the U.S. in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, Washington D.C., and Philadelphia, in addition to Houston.
Ingrid Burley, who goes only by her first name professionally, grew up in the same neighborhood as Beyoncé in Houston's Third Ward and was signed to the superstar's Parkwood Entertainment management company in 2015. Though Burley retains strong Houston ties, she now lives in Brooklyn.
The shoe, which retails for $119, is a unisex style that comes in sizes 4 - 14 in a medium width. Featuring a full-grain leather upper with asymmetrical perforation details, it is aimed at the urban millennial who can wear it from day to night — or 24/7 as the name implies.
