Fashion and beauty go hand-in-hand, so it just makes sense girls should have some glam to go with all the ridiculously amazing deals at CultureMap’s Fashion on Sale event Friday through Sunday at West Ave at River Oaks.

Cerón, Edward Sanchez Cosmetics, The Do Bar and Azur West will all have a presence at the event, showing shoppers how to expertly apply lashes, perfect the fishtail braid, add luxurious extensions and jump ahead to fresh spring hairstyles. Between live demonstrations and the chance to get pampered in between shopping stops, there’s something for everybody.

At the VIP preview Friday night, Cerón will pluck one party girl from the crowd and give her a spring-worthy hairstyle. He and his team are also styling the models during the Tootsies/Elaine Turner fashion presentation, so there are plenty of opportunities for some springspiration.

Sanchez and his team will also be on hand all three days during Fashion on Sale, introducing his exclusive faux lashes. The makeup whiz is giving away a pair to every person at Fashion on Sale who provides him with an email address, and taking it one step further by teaching classes on just how to apply them in the first place. At home. By yourself.

“I have a foolproof technique to put them on that I will reveal at Fashion on Sale. I will show how to make lashes work for you, because lashes are luscious, romantic and sexy,” Sanchez says.

The lashes will be available at his Edward Sanchez Vanity Lounge spot at the Fashion on Sale event. He will also chat about products and spring color trends throughout the weekend.

West Ave. retailers The Do Bar and Azur West are keeping shoppers ahead of the curve with demonstrations during Fashion on Sale weekend. Azur West is taking the stage to show off the newest hair extension trends and technology at 10 a.m. Saturday and then will be selling exclusive Shu Uemura products at a discount and hair styling.

If you ever had questions about hair extensions, this weekend is the time to ask, as Azur stylists will be on hand to talk about extensions and how they work. Book an extension appointment at Fashion on Sale and Azur West is giving special discounts on extension applications.

The Do Bar will be on hand Saturday and Sunday with a braid bar, where shoppers can sign up for discounted braid services. A headband braid, a side French braid and a fishtail are among the choices for shoppers. Sunday at 11 a.m., braid experts from the blowout bar will break down the mystery behind the twisted locks with a Braid 101 presentation. Makeup artist Sarah Tucker and her talented team are also setting up a lash bar (independent of Sanchez) selling and applying an array of lashes for $12. Tucker estimates it takes a total of 10 minutes to apply a set of lashes.

Both salons are also coiffing the models, which will be showing off spring styles for Lot 8/Chloe Dao, CrOp by David Peck, Marlo Miller Boutique and Hello Lucky Saturday and Sunday.

Western glam takes over as RodeoHouston fans dress to impress

Houstonians have dusted off their boots and rhinestones as the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is in full swing. Already one of the largest events in Texas, the crowds are continuing to grow. In 2025, more than 2.7 million people attended RodeoHouston, and this year the event is already on track for record-breaking numbers.

Livestock competitions, carnival rides, deep-fried food, and headlining concerts are the official reasons people come to the rodeo. Unofficially, however, people watching has become a sport all its own. The crowded walkways on RodeoHouston grounds transform into a Western-themed runway, where personal style is just as much of the experience as enjoying deep-fried Oreos or a Ferris wheel ride.

A wide range of outfits is always on display. Some attendees go all in with head-to-toe sequins, fringe on everything, and dramatically decorated hats. Others keep things casual with denim, boots, and graphic t-shirts, while groups of friends will often coordinate themed outfits for concert nights.

No matter the style, there are two must-have accessories: cowboy hats and boots. Hats serve a dual purpose for both fashion and protection from the sun during daytime events. Boots are essential to rodeo style, but sometimes come with a painful learning curve.

Many attendees walk more than a mile from the parking lot to the grounds, and after exploring, they often add more than 20,000 steps. For those who did not properly break in their boots, the end of the day can involve blisters and a slow walk to the car, boots in hand.

“Rodeo fashion is so fun. My friends and I planned out outfits together, and we made sure we broke in our boots before tonight,” Teresa Delgado tells CultureMap. “When you are from Houston, you only make that mistake once.”

Some days have them whether it's official or it's an unspoken trend. When Megan Moroney took the stage, pink was the color of the concert, inspired by Moroney's album Cloud 9. Nearly 70,000 attendees filled the stadium in everything from flouncy pink ruffled outfits to bright neon boots and hats.

“We have really been looking forward to this concert,” said Ashley Little from Cypress. “I didn't think too much about my outfit at first, but my daughter wanted to coordinate, so here we are wearing pink together.”

Between carnival rides, mutton busting, and nightly concerts, the rodeo has plenty to see, but some of the most memorable moments are stopping to notice that fashion is just another part of the show.
