The end of 2011 is creeping up quickly, and it's time to start making plans for the big goodbye. Luckily for you, New Year's Eve Live (formerly known as Gloworama) has announced the lineup for the second annual event at Discovery Green — get ready for a night full of bright lights and a variety of fresh tunes to ring in the new year.
Headlining the evening is Delbert McClinton, a Grammy-winning Texas singer-songwriter whose signature sound is a blend of country, rock, blues and soul. But some of the other acts might make even more of an impression.
Baby Jay is Jonathan Gutierrez, a 19-year-old Galena Park native. Baby Jay will regale the crowd with "positive hip-hop, sharing a message of unity, hope, and encouragement."
Also taking the stage is Chameleon, a musical duo made up of Bart Anderson (the funk master) and his wife Chere' Sutton-Anderson (the vocalist), with an upbeat R&B and soul mix.
Other highlights of the night will include an art car parade with the Rice University's Marching Owl Band, magic by Jack Scratch, vaudeville acts by Schave & Reilly, food and drink, a 3D light show and a 15-minute-long firework display from the rooftop of the George R. Brown Convention Center.
