The thunderous weather has driven the Cinema Arts Festival screening of the film Thunder Soul, planned for Discovery Green Thursday night, to Saturday evening.
The showing of the documentary, about the 1970s-era school band from Houston's own Kashmere High School, is free and open to the public and has been rescheduled for Saturday at 6:45 p.m at Discovery Green. The screening will be followed by a live concert from the Kashmere Reunion Stage Band. Thunder Soul director/producer Mark Landsman and Conrad Johnson, Jr. (the son of the band's famous director "Prof" Johnson) will be in attendance.
The Cinema Arts Festival runs through Sunday night at Houston Visitors Center, Discovery Green, Museum of Fine Arts Houston, Rice Media Center and Edwards Greenway Grand Palace Stadium 24. The event is the only festival in the United States devoted solely to films by and about visual, performing and literary artists For more information on the Festival, the full schedule or to purchase tickets, go to cinemaartsociety.org.
