Bourdain Gets It Right
Anthony Bourdain calls Houston "wonderland of the strange and diverse" in Parts Unknown preview
Houstonians will soon get to see where chef-turned-author and traveler Anthony Bourdain visited during his trip to Houston this summer. CNN will air the Bayou City episode of Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown Sunday night at 8 pm.
Last week, the network released a minute long trailer for the entire episode, but this week two more detailed clips have emerged.
In the first, Bourdain dines with Congolese farmers at Plant It Forward's Montrose farm:
In the second, he dines with local radio personality Sunil Thakkar at Himalaya and takes in a Bollywood-style dance party at Keemat Grocers.
A couple of watch parties will take place Sunday night. Axelrad will host Plant It Forward, Himalaya chef-owner Kaiser Lashkari, and pitmasters Arash Kharat and Ara Malekian for an all-out bash. Montrose patio bar La Grange, a spot where Bourdain stopped for a drink or two, will offer food and drink specials during the episode.
"Houston, anyway, is completely different than I kinda thought, and maybe you kinda thought," Bourdain says in the preview. "And the food here, you can eat well every single day without ever eating barbecue or Tex-Mex . . . This is a wonderland of the strange and diverse."
