Hilary Duff pens her own Twilight and plans to tackle divorce next
Lizzie McGuire has gone literary. Elixir, a new young adult novel by Hilary Duff, has hit bookshelves, providing an inkling that the Houston-bred pop personality has a way with words.
"I wrote a book," Duff tells the New York Post, "so it goes to show you that anyone can write a book if they have an idea."
The newlywed 23-year-old is expanding on her side identities of fashion designer and pop starlet, collaborating with Elise Allen to tell the tale of a photojournalist named Clea Raymond. Duff describes the story as "very complicated," combining romance and the supernatural.
"I was obsessed with the Twilight series — it's so genius," she gushes.
Released by Simon & Schuster, Duff's book has sparked a tour, visiting bookstores across the country. While she'll be appearing in such metropolises as Naperville, Ill. and Fenton, Mo., Duff will sadly pass over her hometown Houston market.
So is Duff turning a new page?
Indeed, she's also writing a non-fiction book on children coping with divorce, to be released in 2012. Don't think that she's trying to buttress her bank account with the book deals, though: Her marriage to mega-wealthy Canadian furniture heir/NHL player Mike Comrie is keeping the coffers fully stocked.
