One Of Only Four Cities Chosen
Tribeca Film Festival heads to Houston: Robert De Niro's baby has Bayou Citylove
Were you excited to hear about a slice of Sundance Festival coming to Houston? Well, we have another film fest coming our way!
Tribeca Film Festival On The Road will be at Houston's Alamo Drafthouse at West Oaks Mall from Oct. 14 to 16.
Houston is one of just four cities chosen for this road show for the film festival that Robert De Niro co-founded. How could we be so lucky? Well, this time there is a caveat: You're only invited if you're an American Express cardholder.
But if you're one of the 49 million AmEx usersand you're interested in indie films, you are in luck. You can purchase a ticket for an opening night screening and get admission to the after-party (with complimentary cocktails and hors d’oeuvres) for $12. For just $8, you get access to a weekend film. Each screening is followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers.
Selections include the documentary Ultrasuede: In Search of Halston; The Man on the Train, an English remake of a French film; The Last Rites of Joe May; Janie Jones; Northeast; and Don't Go In the Woods, a horror/musical directed by Vincent D'Onofrio.
A portion of the proceeds from the tour will benefit the Tribeca Film Institute, which provides grants, professional development and other resources to independent filmmakers.
Will you travel to the outskirts of town for this mini film fest?
