Child Actor Busted In Houston
Sandlot star jailed for headbutting a cop in Houston airport tirade
Actor Tom Guiry — best known for his movie role as Scotty Smalls in 1993's The Sandlot — was taken away in handcuffs from Bush Intercontinental Airport on Sunday after head-butting a police officer.
The 31-year-old New Jersey native was preparing to take a United Airlines flight when an airline employee decided he was too intoxicated to fly, TMZ reports. Security arrived at the scene to inform him that he could either cool off at the airport's drunk tank or face arrest for public intoxication.
Guiry allegedly responded by attempting to kick a police officer in the face. The actor missed his target but managed to get in a solid head-butt . . . which promptly landed him in a Harris County jail.
He was released on a $5,000 bond the following day. An arraignment date is set for mid-September.
Since The Sandlot, Guiry has played supporting characters in films like U-571, Black Hawk Down and Mystic River. In 2007, he appeared in the well-received but short-lived NBC series The Black Donnellys, created by Academy Award-winning writer and producer Paul Haggis.
