New Jersey and New York governors fight over who's to blame for Jersey Shore
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (really?) has jumped on Jersey Shore's portrayal of his state just as the show is leaving it — the next season, which premieres Thursday, takes place in Miami.
Christie told ABC's Jake Tapper on The Week that “what it does is it takes a bunch of New Yorkers — most of the people on Jersey Shore are New Yorkers — drops them at the Jersey Shore and tries to make America feel like this is New Jersey.”
That's weird, we thought the premise of the show was to display the type of people who vacation at the Jersey Shore, not the type of people who live in New Jersey. America probably knows the difference between the Jersey Shore and Morristown. And having seen the countless fights — many of which were provoked by non-cast members — coupled with the endless parade of Shore girls brought back to the house by Pauly D and The Situation, we'd say the representation looks pretty accurate.
We wonder if Christie should be thanking MTV for the exposure. Before Jersey Shore, I thought New Jersey was the Newark airport.
Of course, New York Gov. David Paterson had to chime in as well after Christie's comments and note that the Jersey Shore cast would be better behaved if they were actually in New York instead of New Jersey. These governors do realize they're essentially promoting the new season of a show they claim to hate, right?
