Three, Two, One, Lift Off
Houston hotel's space-themed July celebrations are out of this world
This July is the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, and Four Seasons Hotel Houston is celebrating with a range of fun experiences that can be enjoyed during the entire month. Guests are invited to toasts Space City Month with drink and food specials, plus a Full Moon Party on the fourth-floor pool deck.
Here's what's on the agenda:
Full Moon Party
On Tuesday, July 16, from 7-10 pm this free and open-to-the-public event is offering space-themed food and drink specials, live DJ music, raffle prizes, and two special guests: NASA engineers who will be presenting space-themed fun facts and games for guests. There will also be an authentic astronaut spacesuit on display for guests to take photos with, and telescopes will be available on the fourth-floor pool deck to view the full moon. Bayou & Bottle
During the entire month of July, Bayou & Bottle's signature Space City Sour is getting an update. Made with Old Forester bourbon, housemade caramelized pineapple syrup, fresh lemon juice, turbo, a dash of Angostura aromatic bitters, and topped with egg whites, the cocktail will feature an edible image of an astronaut landing on the moon.
From 5-11 pm daily, guests are also invited to dine like an astronaut with Bayou & Bottle's modern twist on a classic 1969-style TV dinner. The Space City TV Dinner is available for $19.69 and includes an entree of fried chicken with mac and cheese; Southern biscuits and gravy; coleslaw with apples, honey and lime; and orange "Tang" pie for dessert.
Quattro Restaurant
Travel back in time to the year we landed on the moon with Taylor Fladgate 1969 single harvest port, available for $75 for a three-ounce serving. Pair with chef Emily Rosenberg's Astronaut Ice Cream Sundae, shaped like the moon and featuring vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry ice creams encapsulated in a chocolate sphere with chocolate-covered puffed rice "moon rocks," all served with warm chocolate sauce.
An additional selection of port pairings will also be available with Quattro's desserts, including a rosé port, white port, late-bottled vintage port, and tawny port.
WhistlePig Whiskey Dinner
Mark your calendars for July 25, when Bayou & Bottle is hosting an exclusive WhistlePig dinner at 6:30 pm for $120 per person (plus tax and gratuity). The evening will begin with a welcome reception in the Topgolf Swing Suite, followed by a seated four-course dinner with whiskey pairings. Highlights from the menu include a Black Hill Farm suckling pig with nectarine-bourbon sauce, served with WhistlePig’s 15 Year straight rye. Additional pours include the Farmstock Crop 2, 10 Year rye, and 12 Year rye. Special guest and steward of the brand, Stephanie Maxwell, will be present for the event.
An additional option to purchase The Boss Hogs Flight at a discounted rate of $150 will only be available to guests who attend the dinner. This flight is normally available to order at Bayou & Bottle for $200 and features limited-edition top-shelf ryes from the late master distiller Dave Pickerell, including The Independent (III), The Black Prince (IV), and The Spirit of Mauve (V).
