It's been a very busy week for losers — and we're just waiting for square hindsight to speak of who was this week's top set of tools. The contenders: Those who spent Thursday camped out by the Apple store for the new iPhone 4 and those who spent it stalking a Los Angeles street waiting for a premier preview screening of the latest Twilight installment.
The ballots have been counted, and it's been determined that 9,000 people received wristbands to be part of the premiere, much more than the number of iPhones available at any given Apple Store.
An ad hoc shantytown sprung up beside the red carpet at Los Angeles' Nokia Theater — and it started four days before the big night. The devotees, overwhelmingly teenage girls, hoped for a precious glimpse of Taylor Lautner, Robert Pattinson or Kristen Stewart. The scene looked somewhere between a high school cafeteria packed with all the uncool kids and a Darfur refugee camp.
Indeed, the ad hoc Twilight in-tent-city is a sight to behold. Sorry, outphoned Applecrack addicts — you've been Eclipsed.
