What will the Houston encore be?
Daring artist: Erykah Badu strips naked to reenact the JFK assassination (withvideo)
Seen any good Erykah Badu videos lately? I have and it was a doozy.
For the first single "Window Seat" from her latest album, New Amerykah Part Two (Return of the Ankh), it seems that Badu decided to reenact the Kennedy assassination in Dealey Plaza to lend a aura of authenticity to the statement.
She did revise history a teensy bit, however. Instead of in an armored car surrounded by Secret Service, Badu stripped as she walked the historic assassination site. By the time shots rang out and Badu fell to the pavement, she was naked (though her private parts are blurred out in the video).
It soon came out that Badu and her crew had no permits to film the video and she was slapped on the wrist with a misdemeanor.
Is anyone, but me, surprised that there wasn't more public outcry about this story?
The nation goes crazy when Sandra Bullock is cheated on, but a questionable recreation of JFK's death goes virtually unnoticed?
Public apathy for the stunt has also meant minimal excitement for her new music which is probably a little karmic justice.
If anything, it should be interesting to see what Badu does for an encore in concert in Houston Sunday night.
