A Recycled Focus
CITYCENTRE lives green: From organic restaurants to fab shopping finds, it's an eco land
Being green isn’t just a month-long event, it’s a way of living, and the retailers and restaurants at CITYCENTRE are committed to providing products and services that are good for customers and Mother Earth. CITYCENTRE’s eco-savvy focus includes everything from Ruggles Green, a four-star certified green restaurant, to Urban Outfitters, where shoppers can find recycled clothing and accessories.
Situated along CITYCENTRE’s grassy emerald-hued square, Ruggles Green sets the standard for organic restaurants across the city. The restaurant adheres to the guidelines of the Green Restaurant Association, using organic, all-natural, hormone- and preservative-free products in the restaurant’s menu and recycling all glass, paper, cardboard, plastic and metal. The commitment to recycling even extends the fry oil, which the Ruggles Green staff converts into biofuel.
Delicious food with a conscience is at the heart of Ruggles Green and the menu offers vegetarian, gluten- and dairy-free choices including soups, salads, tacos, wood-fired pizzas and burgers. The restaurant also routinely hosts community and culinary-minded events.
If it’s cupcakes you crave, head to SWEET for hand-crafted desserts made with natural products and green practices. The charming dessert boutique serves fresh coffees, teas and fruit juices, plus other goodies. SWEET’s mission revolves around inspiring environmental awareness while indulging in something special.
Shopping green is also a snap at many of CITYCENTRE’s retailers. Anthropologie’s star-crossed preppy/boho vibe is mixed with ethical options thanks to clothing by O by Organic and Made in Kind. Designer Melissa Joy Manning’s jewelry collection mixes recycled materials and agate, coral and shell. Even home accessories made from recycled and organic materials are available at Anthropologie.
If your taste runs more hipster and less prep, Urban Outfitters sells recycled cosmetic cases, purses and home accessories. The Matt & Nat line of wallets and bags are eco-friendly and vegan, making them great options to carry with a clear conscience.
Culinary and kitchen destination Sur La Table in CITYCENTRE, is a one-stop shop for every conceivable tool or product any home chef would need. From a composter to bamboo servers, Sur La Table has eco-friendly options to suit every budget. The exclusive Compagnie de Provence liquid hand soap is a French import that blends fresh citrus notes with touches of spearmint, geranium, thyme and orange blossom. The biodegradable formula comes in an eco-friendly recyclable glass dispenser and is made natural glycerin and vegetable dies.
Shoppers can also get their green fix at the Paper Source in CITYCENTRE. The adorable and addictive stationery store sells recycled wrapping paper, labels, small gifts and a host of papers perfect for jotting down a few notes or sending a thank you card.
