The third annual Cinema Arts Festival Houston, taking place Nov. 9 through 13, has officially released its closer: The fest will host the premiere of the Houston-produced documentary Art Car: The Movie.
CultureMap has been along for the ride throughout production of the film, which was created by Houston's Del Monte Films and helmed by CM contributor Ford Gunter. Conceived by Gunter and his childhood friend, Carlton Ahrens, the documentary examines the preparations of local and visiting artists for the 2010 Art Car Parade — an event that drew 300,000 spectators and nearly 300 art cars — and the behind-the-scenes efforts of the Orange Show and the city of Houston in organizing Houston's kookiest event.
Art Car: The Movie will premiere Nov. 13 at Miller Outdoor Theatre, with a sneak peek scheduled for Art Car weekend on May 21 at Discovery Green.
Cinema Arts Fest is the only American festival dedicated to films by and about artists. Stay posted on the rest of the offiical line-up here.
