Jimmy Fallon becomes a Rodeo cowboy, hits Ninfa's & parties at House of Dereonin Houston blitz
Jimmy Fallon took a break from his usual life — getting Miley Cyrus to confess to her mustache fetish, masterfully parodying Charlie Sheen and waging a cold war with fellow late night host Stephen Colbert — to get his rodeo on. With a side helping of Ninfa's. Followed by a House of Dereon visit.
Fallon spent his Saturday and Sunday in Houston, hitting up the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, enjoying dinner at The Original Ninfa's on Navigation and then heading out on the town to catch an exclusive Questlove show at the House of Dereon. The NBC Late Night host brought along some of his show buddies — Late Night with Jimmy Fallon producer/writer Mike Shoemaker, Late Night producer Gavin Purcell and the show's receptionist Erica Lancaster, who sometimes appears on air.
Shoemaker Twitter credited Lancaster with coming up with the Rodeo visit idea. But Fallon was definitely into it, tweeting "Getting my rodeo on" with a picture of Houston shortly after arriving.
The Rodeo momentarily served secondary to a Ninfa's visit with Fallon — who has more than 3.2 million followers on Twitter — playing his Know Your Napkins! game with his loyal devotees Saturday night. In this game, Fallon tweets a photo of a covered up restaurant logo (in this case leaving only part of Ninfa's distinctive parrot visible and nothing else) and gets his fans to guess where he could be. Fallon did provide a clue: "Hint: one letter off of Ninja's."
Fallon and friends apparently enjoyed the signature Houston experience with Purcell tweeting, "Having the best Mexican food I've had in a very, very long time."
Then, it was off to see Questlove — the Roots drummer who remixed a bunch of Charlie Sheen quotes in a bit on Fallon's show earlier this week. No word yet on what Fallon thought of the House of Dereon. Questlove didn't take the stage till well after 10 p.m.
This marks the second straight Saturday that a high-profile celeb's blown through Houston on a quick romp. Last week, it was Kim Kardashian jetting in to pay a booty call ... er visit ... to her NBA power forward boyfriend Kris Humphries, who was in town to play the Rockets.
But Fallon stuck around for a while though (especially compared to Kardashian). Thought it'd be farfetched to imagine him checking out the Selena Gomez concert Sunday afternoon at the Rodeo?
Well, think again. Fallon spent most of Sunday at the Rodeo, filming segments and getting shown on the big video board in a red cowboy getup, authentic hat included. Fallon chased/tried to lasso a cow in one bit.
Expect plenty of cowboy humor on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon this week.
