Beyoncé's World Tour
After stealing Super Bowl from Coldplay, Beyoncé plans world stadium tour with Houston stop
Just after wowing audiences with a new song at the Super Bowl 50 halftime show, Beyoncé announced her upcoming world tour, which includes stops at stadiums in Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth.
The Formation World Tour will make a stop at NRG Stadium, home to the Houston Texans and next year's Super Bowl, on May 7 and AT&T Stadium, home to the Dallas Cowboys, in Arlington on May 9.
The tour, which opens in Miami's Marlins Park on April 27, will travel to iconic stadiums in 22 North American cities, including the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, Soldier Field in Chicago and Citi Field in New York. In late June, she will launch the European leg of the tour, with appearances at 15 stadiums, including Wembley Stadium in London and Stade de France in Paris.
Critics universally agreed that Beyoncé stole the Super Bowl show from the top-billed and totally bland Coldplay. Flanked by 30 dancers in berets on the 10-yard-line, the fierce singer launched into her new song, “Formation,” which she debuted with a video only the day before, as she made her way to the stage in the center of the field at Levi's Stadium, and engaged in a dance-off with Bruno Mars.
(The Washington Post says in its video form, the new song "serves as a love letter to New Orleans and a nod to the Black Lives Matter movement.")
The tour is the singer's first solo tour since her ambitious Mrs. Carter Show World Tour in 2013. During the summer of 2014, she and husband Jay Z performed together in a six-week On The Run Tour, with a stop at Minute Maid Park.
