Stephen Colbert + Philip Glass + War Chant = Brilliance
Stephen Colbert hit a new high last night when he recruited minimalist composer Philip Glass to provide piano accompaniment for his absurdist avant garde take on what an effective "war on terror" press conference should aspire to. Riffing on Fox News commentators' mounting criticism of Obama's use of the word 'war' - apparently he either doesn't say it often enough, or when he does say it, it's either too insincere or not presented in a novel way - Colbert set out to show the President how to give a speech on war that is "both repetitious and groundbreaking." What ensued was comedic brilliance, an absurdist display that perfectly reflects the absurdity of the entire debate on Obama's handling of national security. As usual, we have to look to Colbert (and his partner in crime, Jon Stewart) to gain any perspective on the issues of the day. Check out the clip below.
