Put Your Paws Together
It's a three-peat victory for Houston SPCA as the city's best nonprofit

The animals are the true winners.
The community has spoken, and once again, the animals come out on top. The Houston SPCA has officially been named Houston’s Best of the Best nonprofit for the third consecutive year, following several rounds of public online voting hosted by the Houston Chronicle earlier this spring.
The award was announced during a ceremony at POST Houston, where winners across a wide range of categories — including Beauty, Eat and Drink, Entertainment and Leisure, Health and Fitness, Kids and Education, and more — were honored for their excellence in serving the city.
With more than a century of service under its belt, the Houston SPCA is one of the most comprehensive animal welfare organizations in the country. It offers over a dozen programs that directly support animals in need, including:
- A full-time, nine-member animal cruelty investigations team covering nine Texas counties
- The region’s only 24-hour injured animal ambulance service
- A nationally recognized Wildlife Center that cares for more than 16,000 native wild animals each year
These programs reflect the organization’s mission to improve and protect the lives of animals in the community and to alleviate their suffering and abuse.
Operated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the Houston SPCA relies entirely on donations from individuals, businesses, and community supporters. There are many ways to get involved, including fostering animals, volunteering time, or becoming a monthly donor.
