What kids want: Top 10 hot toys for the holiday season, including adorable Japanese feline
Every year in October, fifth-grade students at Longfellow Elementary School break into teams and hit the playgrounds, hallways and cafeteria to survey fellow classmates on what they want as gifts for the holiday season. The students are responsible for tallying up the responses as well as planning and hosting their own press conference to announce the results of the top 10 gifts for girls and boys.
This year, students discovered that for boys, the best gifts include anything to do with Iron Man. For girls, it's the Password Journal by Mattel. Surprisingly, still high on the list of children's Christmas must-haves are playthings from My Little Pony, Barbies and Hello Kitty, the adorable Japanese feline that's plastered on anything and everything. You can find the complete top 10 "Hot Toys" list for girls and boys here.
In this edition of HISD Current Events (watch the video above or click here), hosted on the Houston's Voice website, Longfellow students Dasani Gadfrey and Tabitha Anderson report the latest in school news. Additionally, they inform that Fondren Middle School became an official International Baccalaureate school, an achievement that was celebrated with live music, art and guest speaker former astronaut James Riley.
Editor's note: Hidden Houston, an interactive multimedia series, aims to reveal the many things that are unique about the Bayou City and its surrounding areas.
