Pet of the Week - Kaprice cocker spaniel
The sweet Kaprice is an owner surrender who would love to be adopted soon.  Photo courtesy of Citizens for Animal Protection

Name: Kaprice, like the classic Chevy and former British model (different spelling, of course).

Birthdate: August 31, 2011. She's a senior sweetie.

Ethnicity: A little cocker spaniel, a little poodle, Kaprice puts an adorable face on a growing and troubling trend: More dogs are being surrendered as owners move. She's confused and a little sad, as she can't understand why she's at the shelter. Her friends at Citizens for Animal Protection describe her as a "great dog who wants to become friends with everyone she meets."

Kaprice is the perfect size — not too big and not too small — and just needs grooming on a regular basis to keep her coat nice and fluffy, says CAP. Since Kaprice is considered a senior, she qualifies for CAP's Seniors for Seniors adoption discount: any senior human can adopt her for free.

Come and get me: Kaprice is available for adoption (free to seniors) at 11 am Friday, October 12 at Citizens for Animal Protection (17555 Katy Freeway; 281-497-0591). Tell them, "Ken Hoffman sent me."
