Name: Jenny, as in horse whisperer Jenny Liebrum, game show panelist (or whatever) Jenny McCarthy, famed opera singer Jenny Lind, weight loss queen Jenny Craig, Mitch Ryder's hit single "Jenny Take a Ride," and finally, the love of Forrest Gump's life Jenny Curran.
Birthdate: May 7, 2019. I'm a puppy, practically fresh out of the crate, Consider me a brand new hunk of Play-Doh for you to mold. (Love the way Play-Doh smells.)
Ethnicity: I'm a smooth-haired miniature Dachshund. You don't get a lot of me around the ol' shelter here. I'm gentle with small children, other dogs and grownups. I'm a quiet little gal, 11 pounds of peace and love. I'm good on a leash and like going for nice walks around the neighborhood.
Everybody takes a second look at me, that's the sign of a real cutie. Other than that, just leave some room on the couch for me — although you may have to give me a lift up there. Pet stores sell little step stairs for pups like me, so I can hop into your bed, too. Is that being presumptuous?
When you adopt me, I'll be spayed, checked out medically and totally glammed up like a local newscaster. How's this for your "Word of the Day" — Heterochromia? It means I have two different color eyes, like pitcher Max Scherzer of the Washington Nationals. Fingers crossed, the Astros may face him in the World Series.
Here's some news, Citizens for Animal Protection is having its annual Howl-o-Ween Dog Walk this weekend. (Gon online for details.) It's a big-time amazing event, and Sally Hoffman will be marching proud in her first Halloween costume. She's going as a bum, got the burnt cork, patches and safety pins ready, which was my usual costume growing up. Didn't expect it to be a crystal ball to my future life, but it is what it is.
Come and get me: I'm available for adoption at 11 am Friday, October 11, at Citizens for Animal Protection (17555 Katy Freeway; 281-497-0591). Tell them, "Ken sent me."
Dog lover? Ken Hoffman introduces you to an adorable pup available for adoption in Houston every Thursday.
