150 breast cancer survivors celebrate triumph over disease at Harris Health luncheon
With pink roses waving and much deserved applause, 150 breast cancer survivors celebrated their individual victories over the disease during the Harris Health System's ninth annual Breast Cancer Survivors Luncheon.
Beth Sanders Moore, founder of CancerForward, addressed the more than 350 people in attendance at the special event, held as part of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. "You are true examples of courage and the things that are possible when you have the support and medical care you need," she told the honorees and guests.
Dr. Polly Niravath, director of the Lester and Sue Smith Breast Cancer Clinic, added, "You are all inspirations to us who have the privilege of taking care of you."
The survivors are from the Smith Clinic and Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital. Harris Health System and its partner institutions of Baylor College of Medicine, the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center and the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston hosted the luncheon.
