A Great Loss For Words
Murder by the Book plans to celebrate David Thompson's life
The sudden death of David Thompson earlier this week wasn't just a heartwrenching loss for his loved ones and the Murder by the Book store he helped run with his wife and store owner McKenna Jordan. It's a void that is being felt throughout the mystery book community and has caused reaction far beyond just Houston.
Recognizing that, family and friends of Thompson will mourn his passing and celebrate his life in an event that's more book party than funeral.
"David loved a good party, and we will honor him by celebrating the life of an extraordinary young man who touched the lives of many in his 21 years at the bookstore.... There will be margaritas and Mexican Hors d'œuvres — great favorites of David’s."
The event will take place on Sept. 26 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at The Briar Club.
Those who wish to make a contribution to David's memory can send payment to Alafair Burke (details available on the Murder By The Book website), and proceeds will go to a charity to be named.
