Other than that, how was your night?
We didn't make this up: Fan sues Rockets after getting squashed by drunk giantat game
As if going to a Rockets game in recent years wasn't bad enough. For one fan, it also included getting flattened by a potentially drunk 300-pound human projectile.
Brittany Fox is suing the Rockets for negligence after she was made to serve as a temporary mattress for a "large unidentified patron" at a game in April 2010.
According to the suit,
During the fourth quarter of the game, an unknown man weighing well over 300 pounds fell and began rolling down and over multiple rows landing directly on top of Ms. Fox.... Several patrons worked together, with great difficulty, to eventually pull the large patron off of Ms. Fox. Until the large unknown male patron was lifted off of Ms. Fox, she was trapped in a bent forward position with the unknown man's weight pinning her down."
Some of us just call this kind of situation "a normal Friday night" but apparently Fox required medical attention.
She's suing the Rockets for "failing to properly monitor and control inebriated, reckless, dangerously exuberant or medically impaired patrons," among other things, though specifically controlling how many rows up fat people are allowed to stand is not mentioned.
(Frankly, if you aren't "dangerously exuberant," I'm not really sure what you're doing at a basketball game.)
Fox requests damages for past and future pain, suffering, mental anguish, medical bills and loss of income, but doesn't name a specific sum.
Do you think she's serious, or is she just looking for season tickets in better seats than section 405?
