Armed robbers torment new Houston neighborhoods: Crooks move in almost as soon as the houses
Homeowners move into new areas to find a better life for themselves and their families. People who jumped into the subdivisions of Village of Kings Lake and Greensbrook Place aren't necessarily finding that's the case though.
These new and growing neighborhoods in North East Houston have already become a favorite of burglars.
"They tied us up, and he held the gun to my head."
The burglars are testing the residents' patience. One guy and his roommate were woken up at 2 a.m. to some tail lights leaving their driveway. Walter Moreno watched someone try and break into his truck in video footage from the camera he has set up outside his home.
Moreno and his roommate, Jorge Galvis, both got in their trucks and chased after the spooked burglar. Moreno's truck had been stolen from his driveway a few weeks earlier. The police found it stripped with missing headlights.
A resident of Greensbrook Place, which is nearby, was taking out his trash when he was held up at gunpoint.
"They tied us up, and he held the gun to my head," J.R. Parker tells KHOU.
Village of Kings Lake is located off Lockwood inside Beltway 8 while Greensbrook Place is located off North Lake Houston Parkway inside Beltway 8.
In the past six months, Greensbrook has seen at least seven burglaries.
The police believe that there are multiple robbers targeting the neighborhoods with some of the crooks working in groups. They are urging residents to write down license plate numbers and to take photos of anything suspicious looking.
