The ultimate guide to White Linen Night: What's new, what you can't miss andwhere to park

Though White Linen Night in the Heights has been scaled down this year, it's slated to be better than ever, with plenty of music to entertain the ear and fashion to please the eye, plus a lineup of events that will keep visitors busy on Saturday from well before dusk 'til 10 p.m.

Here's your can't-miss guide for the hottest night of the summer (and don't forget to seek out the Blizzard Blaster and Bombay Sapphire beverage outposts to cool off).

Fresh Arts/Space Taker stage — Fresh Arts is taking over the block on White Oak with music, dance and burlesque performances. Don't miss Kiki's Sordid Sideshow, a cross-section of clowns and sexy performers, with local costume designer and performance artist Amberry Jam.

Fiesta Mart Entertainment stage — Local blues-rock band Runaway Sun will headline the evening entertainment at 8:30 p.m. in front of 226 Recordings Studio.

Kid-friendly entertainment — Scoot over to Write Now between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. for children's crafting activities, a faux beach sand pile and a wading pool, plus cold kid's treats and adult beverages.

First Saturday Arts Market — The artist-curated exhibitions will set up shop in the midst of the crowd for the first time ever, with one outpost in front of the Heights Tower and another at the corner of 19th and Yale Street. Stop by the tents to say hello and peruse work from a local artist.

White Linen Night Fashion Show — Sidewalks will be transformed into catwalks throughout the night, but the first event will be the biggest: The official WLN fashion show, emceed by Channel 13's Sonia Azad, with hot young models showcasing designs from half a dozen local boutiques.

Those who don't live within walking distance of the bacchanalian festivities can find plentiful parking at Chase Bank at 20th Street and Lawrence Street, at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church (for $10) or along Heights Boulevard.

Texas hiker discovers impressively intact dinosaur track near Austin

It may look plain, but this footprint tells an exciting story.

A dinosaur track discovered along Brushy Creek in Hutto near Austin is offering a glimpse into Texas’ prehistoric past.

For Gio Bernabe, walking along Brushy Creek is a chance to explore, fish, and look for anything interesting.

But during a recent Saturday afternoon walk, she came across something she never expected to find.

“And then I saw there was like this huge imprint of kind of like a foot, like a three-toed foot,” Bernabe said. “So I looked at it and I kind of cleaned it up and it looked like a dinosaur foot.”

Bernabe posted a photo of the print on social media, where it quickly attracted attention from the community.

“I was so excited because this is honestly one of my biggest dreams,” Bernabe said. “I've always wanted to find something like, really cool like this, like fossil-related, and I found it in Hutto, Texas.”

Chris Sagebiel with the Jackson School of Geosciences’ Texas Vertebrate Paleontology Collections examined the tracks and confirmed they belonged to a dinosaur. He said the tracks are particularly well preserved.

“I can only think of a couple of places where, in this area, where we have tracks that are that age, that are that well preserved,” Sagebiel said. “We get a lot of really faint tracks or partial tracks, but a beautiful one like that is a very nice find.”

Dinosaur tracks are relatively common around Austin, according to Sagebiel. However, they are more often found west of Interstate 35, where older rock formations are exposed.

The size and spacing of the tracks can help researchers identify the type of dinosaur that made them.

Sagebiel said the tracks likely came from a large, plant-eating, two-legged dinosaur — possibly a Hadrosaur, also known as a duck-billed dinosaur.
