Pet of the Week
Meet Maggie, the sweet and springy terrier mix, CultureMap's pet of the week
Name: Maggie, as in actress Maggie Gyllenhaal; actress Maggie Smith; the "Iron Lady," Maggie Thatcher; and my favorite: "Maggie Mae," as sung by the Beatles. "Oh dirty Maggie Mae they have taken her away, and she never walk down Lime Street anymore. Oh the judge he guilty found her for robbin' a homeward bounder, that dirty, no good robbin' Maggie Mae."
Birthdate: February 27, 2018. I'm just entering the prime of my life. I've still got a lot of puppy in me, so prepare for a whole lotta love (great song by Led Zeppelin).
Ethnicity: I'm a terrier mix, a li'l on the plus side. As they say on those home shopping channels, I'm "extra beautiful." I'm a solid, in-shape 50 pounds. I'm right where I should be. I'm a real calm, loving kind of pup. I get along with kids 12 and older, and I'd probably do better in a one-dog house. Just don't leave me alone all day while you go to work. That's not fair to anybody.
I'm a real rule follower, I know "sit" and "stay," and I love going on walks around the neighborhood. I'm an Olympic high jumper, so make sure your backyard fence can corral me. But, my favorite thing to do is sit on the couch and watch TV with you. Let's watch the debates and try to guess which Saturday Night Live cast member will play which candidate.
Come and get me: I'm available for adoption at 11 am Friday, August 2, at Citizens for Animal Protection (17555 Katy Freeway; 281-497-0591). I'll be checked out by a vet, groomed, and spayed when you take me home. Such a deal. Tell them, "Ken sent me."
Dog lover? Ken Hoffman introduces you to an adorable pup available for adoption in Houston every Thursday.
