Love is in the air: High-wire romance leads to a circus of a wedding for happy couple
Love was literally in the air when high-wire walkers Anna Lebedeva and Mustafa Danguir of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey said their "I do's" Tuesday morning 30 feet above the floor of NRG Stadium.
It was a wedding production as colorful and animated as the circus itself with the bride arriving on a black stallion and the groom riding in atop a camel. In addition to a dozen attendants, witnesses to the unusual nuptials included fully costumed clowns, aerialists and acrobats.
Ringmaster David Shipman officiated while Lebedeva and Danguir repeated their vows and exchanged rings perched atop the high wire, said to be no larger in diameter than a human thumb. The bride's floor-length gown not apparently interfering with her balancing act.
Local vendors stepped in to provide glamour notes including Salon d'Artista's Carlos Franco, who dolled up the bride; Janice and Bobby Jucker of Three Brothers Bakery, which delivered the traditional wedding cake; and Sarah Cain, owner of Sarah's Florist, which dressed the circus surroundings in glorious, massive arrangements of roses, hydrangeas and orchids and provided the bride with her amazing cascade of white orchids.
You can see the happy couple performing high above the crowd in performances daily through Sunday.
