Pet of the Week
Pet of the week Truffle takes a swing at Tiger Woods

Name: Truffle, as in ... please change my name.
Birthdate: May 22, 2018. I'm a li'l girl, only 6 pounds, 3 ounces (so far) so here's your chance to get in on the ground floor.
Ethnicity: I'm an red merle Australian Shepherd mix, and you know what they say about us Aussie pups — we're the smartest dogs around. For example, I know that the capital of Australia is Canberra, and the national anthem's title is "Advance Australia Fair." I'm in fine fiddle, top health, bright, cute, and lovable. (Told you I was smart.)
Come and get me: I'm available for adoption at 11 am Friday, July 27 at Citizens for Animal Protection (17555 Katy Freeway; 281-497-0591). Tell them, "Ken sent me."
Truffle's tales: Tiger Woods' performance at the The Open last week sure has people talking golf again. Two ways of looking at Tiger's sixth-place finish.
1. A few years ago, doctors told Tiger that he may never play golf again, so finishing in the top 10 at a major tournament is remarkable, and his comeback is in fully swing.
2. Tiger was leading the tournament in the final round, choked, and finished tied with a guy playing with a hangover and only four shots better than 60-year-old Berhard Langer. Also, Tiger's playing partner on July 21 won the tournament, so the legendary Tiger intimidation factor is no more.
Which side do I take? Golf fans are happy that Tiger's back, so I'm happy that they're happy.
Wrestling's back
World Wrestling Entertainment returns to Toyota Center on September 15. The main event is a six-man tag match with Daniel Bryan, Jeff Hardy, and A.J. Styles facing The Miz, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Samoa Joe. Also, women's champ Carmella faces the challenge of Asuka. Gotta go with 'Mella, the Princess of Staten Island. Find your tickets here.
Kathy Griffin is...right?
Seems Kathy Griffin has a big problem with Ellen DeGeneres because Ellen wasn't a big fan of late comedienne Joan Rivers. Griffin won't let it go, and it looks like a one-woman feud. Ellen reportedly thought Rivers was "mean." I'm more a Griffin fan than an Ellen fan, but I'm going with Ellen on this one. Rivers was low-rent. She once cracked a vicious, awful joke about John Lennon's murder, but later cried foul when anybody joked about her husband's suicide. She also walked off a CNN interview because she thought the anchor was "negative." If you can't take it, don't dish it out.
Top seven bands ever
Watched a new game show called America Says and the challenge was to guess the top seven rock bands of all time, according to a poll. The answers: The Beatles, Metallica, KISS, Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, The Eagles, and Journey. I'm okay with the list, but I would have found room for Creedence Clearwater Revival.
Didn't see this one coming
Trivia question from Michael "The High-Tech Texan" Garfield. Paul McCartney has written the most No. 1 songs the Billboard Hot 100 chart — 32. John Lennon is next with 26 chart-toppers. Who is No. 3?
Answer: Swedish-born Max Martin has written 22 No. 1 songs for superstars like Britney Spears, NSYNC, Maroon Five, Justin Timberlake, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, and Kelly Clarkson.
Pickles on 'cue?
The other day, I tweeted a photo of my double meat brisket sandwich at The Pit Room on Richmond. There were pickles on it. Somebody commented to me that they've never seen or heard of pickles on a barbecue sandwich. Really? I'm no barbecue authority, but how come I see pickles at every condiment station in every barbecue joint I've visited? How about you let me eat in peace? Everybody's a food critic now.
