Four beauty queens and a hot pink chariot: Young cancer patient gets the princess treatment
Julia Cobb, an 8-year-old patient at the M.D. Anderson Proton Therapy Center, has been unable to travel to Disney World since she began treatment for Ewing's sarcoma (a rare bone cancer) in Dec. 2011.
But no matter. In celebration of her 25th and final radiation treatment last Friday, Julia's father, Jonathan, arranged to bring a bit of Disney to her.
Julia dressed up as a fairy tale princess — tiara and all — for her last trip to treatment, and stepped outside to find a hot pink chariot awaiting to transport her to the center.
There, she received visits from Miss Texas Teen USA 2012, Miss Texas 2012, Miss Houston 2012 and Miss Houston Teen 2012 and enjoyed a pretty pink celebratory cake.
And, most importantly, Julia got to bang the gong — signaling the end, at long last, of her treatment.
