Cat's meow
Guys can no longer moan about their girlfriend's pussycat: Is the cat vaccine arelationship changer?
Allergy-prone boyfriends, your excuse to hate your girlfriend's cats was just eliminated — in part, at least.
Canadian researchers at McMaster University's Faculty of Health Sciences have found a way to fix those itchy, watery eyes and runny, sneezing noses that often accompany feline companions. These brainy immunologists have brilliantly developed a "cat vaccine" to deliver much-anticipated relief to those who suffer from purring pal allergies.
The product of 10 years of meticulous research, scientific mastermind Mark Larché and a team of researchers deconstructed the key protein molecules secreted on cat fur, which causes the majority of cat allergies. They figured out which parts of the protein triggered the immune system, mixed together synthetic peptides to make the vaccine, and presto change-o, no more stuffy head when Fluffy walks into a room.
There are almost no side effects, and it's considered safe. Tell us, dear readers — would you consider subjecting yourself to the needle to rid yourself of kitty sensitivities?
