Pet of the Week
Meet Freddie, the carefree Collie mix, CultureMap's pet of the week

Name: Freddie, as in rock legend Freddie Mercury, tragic comedian Freddie Prinze, wrestling villain Classy Freddie Blassie, British Invasion pop stars Freddie and the Dreamers, and basketball 3-point ace Downtown Freddie Brown.
Birthdate: January 19, 2018. I'm barely out of my puppy year.
Ethnicity: Here's a peek behind the curtain. Citizens for Animal Protection has me listed as a Terrier mix, but I'm really a bearded collie mix. And lucky you, we bearded collies are a rare find in a shelter. We make the best ("the best, Jerry, the best") pets. Ask Ken Hoffman: His beloved Sally is part bearded collie. We're amazing fun, love people, and love to hang out with family and friends. If you leave a spot free on the couch, I'm there.
Here's my deal: I was brought here because my former owner didn't have time for a puppy. My favorite things include going on walks, playing with toys, and tugging on whatever you've got for me to tug on. I know sit, stay, come, and down commands. I weigh a trim 29 pounds. I get along with other dogs, but I'm pretty possessive if food is around. I'm good with kids, too. I'm a fast learner, and if you give me half a chance, I'll weasel my way into your heart.
Come and get me: I'm available for adoption at 11 am Friday, April 12 at Citizens for Animal Protection (17555 Katy Fwy.; 281-497-0591). Tell them, "Ken sent me."
