METRORail construction pushes the Houston Rodeo parade off course: Cowboys find a new way
The Downtown Rodeo Parade is taking a slight change of course this year due to location changes in METRORail.
Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo officials, along with Mayor Annise Parker, announced the adjustments during a press conference at city hall. Officials also jump started the 2013 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo with its annual Rodeo Roundup.
The parade will still take place along the main streets of downtown Houston.
The Rodeo Roundup, held in front of city hall and around the reflecting pool at Hermann Square, officially kicks off the month-long extravaganza. Volunteers from some of the show's 107 committees are on hand at the event to celebrate the city's rich Western heritage and to inform the public about RodeoHouston events.
The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo runs Feb. 25 to March 17 at Reliant Park.
